The Dancing Trees
跳舞的树的表演
The Meteorological Service of New Zealand has predicted that Cyclone Gabrielle is due to come into the North Island within the next twenty-four hours. This is now 4:00pm on Monday 13 February 2023.
Across the road from us along Akoranga Drive, the trees at the North Shore campus of the University of Technology (AUT), the trees are doing a dance for us, with the wind gust still not in the Cyclone level of 130km/hr.
The performance of the dancing trees
Was captivating to behold;
Their graceful movements in the breeze
The leaves swayed with a gentle grace,
As if they were performing a dance,
And the music in their branches would race,
In a captivating trance.
The trunks swaying with an undulating rhythm,
Making a sound that was heard around the town;
It was both beautiful and sublime,
A magnificent sight, without a frown.
The performance of the dancing trees,
Was something I will never to forget;
It’s something that brings me to my knees,
And shows me a world I have yet to see.

At the North Shore campus of AUT
Was mesmerising to watch and hear,
A show that could bring peace and cheer.
Their graceful movements in the breeze
Were captivating to behold,
Soaring, swooping, and waving high above,
As if they were stories being told.
The audience gazed on in awe and wonder
At this magical display so grand;
For here at the North Shore campus, they knew
The beauty was all in their hands.
