About Francis PF Lai:

 

Dr. Francis Lai is now retired and is available on consultancy assignments.

Born in Singapore in 1940, he has been educated at the College of Estate Management, London (now part of Reading University) on a Colombo Plan Scholarship and is qualified as a Chartered Quantity Surveyor and as a Chartered Property Valuer. Additionally, he holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Deakin University, Australia, and a Doctorate Degree in inter-religious philosophy from the Assumption University in Thailand.

He has been involved in the real estate industry all his active working life. As a practicing chartered surveyor qualified in both property valuation and quantity surveying, Francis has been involved in real estate projects in Auckland, Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong and New Zealand. His earlier training years were spent in Singapore having worked for the Singapore Housing and Development Board and later as the principal partner of Lai Pang Fee & Simon Lim, Chartered Surveyors. Amongst his achievements were the projects like Peoples Park Complex, Singapore, Discovery Bay Holiday Resort, Hong Kong, Duta Merlin Hotel, Djarkata, Shangrila Gardens, Auckland. management of many urban renewal projects and real estate projects in Singapore, Hong Kong, and New Zealand.

In Thailand, Dr. Lai had assisted property valuation firms like Simon Lim & Partners, N&A Valuers and Pasupat Realty Ltd and had assisted the Thai Government in the setting up of Property Valuation Standards.

Dr. Lai is also a keen lecturer in property related subjects. He has been involved in the training of many successful property developers, real estate agents, property valuers, quantity surveyors and of late young budding entrepreneurs. He had lectured at the National University of Singapore, the Assumption University of Thailand and the Unitec Auckland, assisting many people into the many property-related fields.

Dr Lai’s strength is in his ability to relate to people and to assist many of his friends in achieving their property-related dreams. His multi-lingual skill includes spoken Thai, Malay and several Chinese dialects on top of his English Language excellence, developed during his formative university years in London.

Dr. Lai’s interests extend beyond properties to the logic of Sudoku where he has developed and published books on the Francis’ Rules in solving all Sudoku challenges. He is also well versed in comparative religion and his religious philosophy can be said to be aligned with that of Dr. Lloyd Geering, Dr. John Spong and Dr. Wilfred Cantwell-Smith.
