“Leadership” by the Most Reverend William Goh Seng Chye

Cóng zhǔjiào mùshī wēilián·gē ēn nàlǐ xué dào de jiàoxùn (Hanyu Pinyin, for students in the Mandarin Language). I watched and listened to the Archbishop of Singapore’s videos posted to me from one of you out there who does not want to be named. Thanks for sharing his messages. Besides religious tolerance, the most important lesson for me in the videos is this: We need to pray to God in the morning, as soon as we wake up. We pray for guidance from God as to possible solutions to our problems. Start our day with meditation, speaking to God alone […]

The Wang Brothers

This fictitious story of three Wang Brothers is based on three real-life experiences of my friends. It is also based on an original Chinese children’s mythical (folklore tale) story with a moral that seeking happiness in life is more important than seeking pots and pots of gold. What I have done here is to relate the first part of my story in the following paragraphs and then I would like to invite you, the readers, to write your versions of the Wang Brothers’ lives after the year 1979 October 1st. Make your stories as best and as interesting as you […]

Chinese? A necessity. Maori? A Luxury. 中文?

If you are living in New Zealand, both Chinese and Maori are necessities. We, kiwis in New Zealand, have to learn the only language that ties the country together. That, of course, is my own opinion. Let us start this session with two simple Maori waiata (Maori songs). 让我们以毛利的 waiata(毛利人的歌曲)开始本节。 Te Aroha - The Love - 有爱的心。https://youtu.be/2xJV-h-pCuo Te Aroha (The Love) (有爱的心) Te Whakapono (The Faith) (有好的信仰) Me Te Rangimarie, (And the Peace) (有心里平安) Tatou, tatou e.

Start by answering the following ten questions, showing all workings. It is always tempting to do such mathematical questions mentally and shout out the answers. This is usually NOT what a teacher requires. Teachers like to know the logical workings in the answers and therefore, kindly write out your steps in your answers and then compare what you have written with the sample answers to be given in a later article to be published next week. Question # 1: Tom, Jones, and Mum. Tom: I took four sweets, Mum. My Life’s Lessons

Today is Sunday again. Sunday, the fifth of July. It is appropriate that today is the day for me to reinforce my trust in God. Today is the day I choose to give Him yet another testimony of His kindness and His greatness in my life. Today is the day I choose to remind myself of work He has done by His unseen hands over the last seventy-nine years. The top six most valuable lessons that He has taught me are listed below and I would like to share these with you. But, first, let us pray. Heavenly Father, we […]

Algebra Practice for Your Child

The relationship between algebra in schools and real-life experience is never clear to our children. We, adults, know that algebra helps us to think logically for a solution to the many X-s and Y-s in our lives. Just as a simple example, if 3 apples and 4 oranges cost $13.00, and an apple costs $3.00, what is the cost of an orange? To solve this, we need to read the example in algebraic terms like 3a + 4o = 13 and a = 3. That being so, 3a = 9. Using the usual child’s conception that the equal sign is […]
