The Northbridge Photoshoots 2002 was held in the months of November and December 2022.

Residents and staff were encouraged to submit four photographs each for consideration of inclusion in the display at the walkway next to the Administration Office. The photographs were divided into two categories - those taken within the Northbridge compound, and those that were taken outside the Northbridge area but still in New Zealand.

A total of 48 photographs were later chosen for display during the entire month of January 2023. There were thirty-eight displayed photographs taken within Northbridge and ten displayed photographs taken outside Northbridge.

January was also the time for all residents, staff and visitors to vote for the photos they think should receive an award in the two categories.

At 2:30 pm Wednesday 8th February 2023, the residents of Northbridge Retirement Village watched a video presentation of all the photographs submitted by the residents and staff. These included those photographs that were not selected for display.

Presents were then given to the photographers of the top two “People’s Choice” for each category. The awardees were:

Roses are a sign of beauty and hope, while thorns can represent the negativity and difficulties we may face in life. Together they symbolise that while there are challenges to be faced, there is still beauty to be found.

玫瑰是美丽和希望的象征，而荆棘可以代表我们在生活中可能面临的消极和困难。它们一起象征着尽管面临挑战，但仍然可以发现美丽。

Roses are fair and their beauty sublime,

Though they may be touched by the thorn’s dark grime.

A blessing of beauty, a delight so rare,

Often hidden beneath the sharp reminder of care.

In danger’s path it does not cower or crowd.

For thorns protect like a faithful guard,

The beauty of the rose is not too hard.
