The above is our record of wordle games played over for the last 116 days. Before that, we played but because of a change of computer, the precious record was lost. The Wordle APP also fails to carry on the “Current Streak” counts properly and in many cases it reverts to 1 for no reason whatsoever. Suffice it to say that our own record show that we should be a current streak of 116 and a maximum streak by this number 116 too.

Returning to today’s Wordle, we started off in our usual manner with a word AUDIO, a five lettered word with four vowels of “A”, “I”, “O”, and “U”. The result is that only “A” qualifies towards a solution but is colored yellow, meaning that the letter is in the wrong position.

We test for the missing vowel “E” next with the word ENACT. Here the result is that we have now three yellow letters “E”, “A” and “T”.

It is easy for us to work out logically that the letter “T” should take the lead with the vowel “A” placed in the second position. The work we choose to use is TAKES.

The result of this is: Two green colored letters in ” T ” and ” A “, and two yellow colored letters in ” E ” and ” S “.

It can now get the right solution to this game by the fourth attempt.

Now for today’s Nerdle: As usual we start with the equal sign placed in the sixth position, the addition sign in the second position and the multiplication sign in the fourth position. The five different digit we choose to form an equation are: 4, 5, 6, 8, and 9.

4 + 9 * 6 = 5 8.

The result: (a) The addition and the equal signs are in their second and sixth order of placement - a definite plus toward the right solution. (b) The multiplication sign is not in the solution, unfortunately. And, with two digits as the answer to that equation, there is not going to have a division ( / ) or a deduction ( - ) sign in the solution. This also means that the seventh cell has to be a number less than 2. (c) We put our second equation as:

9 + 6 + 7 = 2 2.

Result: Digits 2 and 7 are out. The two plus signs are correctly positioned. The starting digit 9 is also correct.

Simply put, because the digits 5, 7, and 8 are out of the game, the seventh digit has to be a 1, and the last digit has to be a 6, logically, looking at the past two equations.

We now have that correct solution.

Wordle Friday, 23rd June 2023.

We always start with a five-letter word with four vowels from the following list of words:

ADIEU. AUDIO. AULOI. AURIE. LOUIE. MIAOU. OUIJA. OURIE. Today we start with the word OURIE which means depressing or shivering with cold.

Result: Letters “O” and “E” are coloured yellow - right letters, wrong positions. We would like to follow the usual pattern of testing if the missing vowel “A” is in the solution, but this time, we take a different path. We use the word HOTEL. The result is good, with “O” and “E” now correctly placed and another letter ” T ” coloured yellow. “T” can be the beginning of the word or the end of that word.

Nerdle for Friday 23rd June 2023.

We start as usual - five different digits joined by a ( + ) and a ( * ) with the ( = ) sign at position sixth.

Result: The equal sign is in the right place. The multiplication sign has been cast out. The plus sign is coloured purple, and because of a double digit answer, this plus sign has to be in the third position. Digit 9 is coloured green (Correct) and Digit 6 is coloured purple - Wrong position. Digits 3, 5, and 7 are not the right digits for today’s solution.

The Logic goes like this: The first number with two digits must be a low number less than 40, as we intend to move digit 6 to the fourth position. Any number above 40 will produce a three figured answer and we have no space for a three-digit answer. So we go for 22 + 69 = 91.

The first digit has to be a 1, as 1 and 3 are out of the race and any higher number in the first position will result in an answer in three-digits.

Wordle for Saturday 24th June 2023.

First word AUDIO has two yellow-coloured letters “A” and “D”. The second word aims to test if the vowel “E” is in the solution.

“E” is out. But we gain another yellow-coloured letter in “R”.

The next word TRADY is simply a word we invented, not knowing what TRADY means. Our logic is as follows: “D” has to be the fourth or the fifth letter. We first thought of the word TRADE but realized that “E” had already been rejected. We then think of this word TRADY as a Tradesperson. The result confirms that “D” is the last fifth letter. Therefore, we use the word GRAND as our next attempt.

Nerdle, Saturday, 24th June 2023.

Same rule to start off this game - five different digits with ( + ) in second position, ( * ) in fourth, and equal sign ( = ) in sixth position. Result: Both ( * ) and ( + ) not in the solution. Equal Sign has to be on the seventh position.

Minus sign ( - ) in the third position is wrong. We have to place it in the second position in which case the digit in the first position has to be a high number, say 9. The fifth position has to be a divide sign. So, we try: 9 - 1 4 / 7 = 7. 14 divided by 2 produces 2, and 9 - 2 produces 7. This proves to be the correct solution.

Wordle for Sunday, 25 June 2023.

The first word OURIE produces three yellow-coloured lettters in “O”, “R”, and “E”. We make use of these three letters in ROBED as the second word.

This word gives us three green-coloured letters in “R”, “O”, and “E” and one yellow-coloured letter in “D”. The solution can easily be guessed as RODEO which is correct.

Nerdle for Sunday, 25 June 2023.

4 + 7 * 2 = 1 8. Equal sign is in the wrong position. The sign should be in the fifth position as the ( * ) sign in the solution and this sign is going to be in the third position, the answer to the equation must contain three digits.

Rearranging the known digits that are in the solution, we have 7 9 * 4 = 3 1 6. Encouraging!

Wordle for Monday, 26th June 2023.

MIAOU only gets one yellow-coloured letter “U”. The word to test the presence of vowel “E”, UNCLE gets two yellow-coloured letters ” U ” and ” E “. That is progress.

Third word “TUBES” fares better with letter ” U ” now turning green in the second position and two additional yellow-coloured letters ” T ” and ” S “. As there is no word starting with ” EU ” (other than EUROS), we are placing vowel ” E ” in the third position, and letter ” T ” will then be in the fifth position, replacing ” S ” to be shifted to the fourth position. What can the starting letter be? There can be only two such starting letters that make sense - either G for GUEST or Q for QUEST. Take your pick.

Too bad!

All correct for sure!

Nerdle for Monday 26th June 2023.

With the equal sign correctly placed in the sixth position but without the support of the multiplication and the division signs, the solution must be that there is only sign - a deduction sign in the third position. A division sign cannot produce an answer with two digits.

Therefore, our second equation is: 7 6 - 2 4 = 5 2. Result: Subtraction sign is correctly positioned. Digit 7 must be shifted to the second position (why? because the higher numbers have to be in the left-hand side of the deduction sign. ) Digit 4, being less than 5, is to be on the right-hand side of the deduction sign, perhaps in the fourth position. The smallest number must be shifted to the answer side of the equation. 6 7 - 4 6 = 2 1. Result: Six cells coloured green and two cells coloured purple. This just means the solution is simply the interchange of the two purple-coloured digits.

Wordle, for Tuesday, 27th June 2023.

First word LOUIE produces two yellow-coloured letters ” O ” and ” U “. We have to introduce a word with the vowel ” A ” to see if ” A ” is present in the solution. But the temptation here is to see where ” OU ” are located first. We use the word SMOUT (meaning “a child or an undersized person”) and the result is as expected with “OUT” being the last three letters in a five-lettered word.

The next word comes quickly with ABOUT and this can also test whether vowel ” A ” is in the solution.

Nerdle for Tuesday, 27th June 2023.

The usual five digits connected with the ( * ) and the ( + ) sign with the equal sign in the sixth position. The result is that the ( * ) sign is out and the ( = ) sign is not in the sixth position. With a ( + ) sign in green at position two, the equal sign has to be in the seventh position, not the fifth.

We need to test is the deduction sign is in the solution by using the equation with the deduction sign in the fourth position, thus:

There is no deduction sign and so there must be the division sign and to allow the space for division to work, the sign has to be in the fifth position.
