April 1st Saturday. Wordle.

Just google ‘Wordle’ and we get six rows of five near-blinded cells thus:

Each row represents one attempt in guessing a word stored in memory - a five-lettered word. We therefore have six attempts to qualify us as a WIN. After entering each row, Wordle will show us where we are correct and where we are wrong. Black letters indicate that the letter is NOT part of the stored word. Yellow letters represent the right letter but not in that position. Green letters are correct - right letter, right placement.

We started with the letter LOUIE - five letters with four vowels. Result: Not correct at all. None of the letters is in the solution. We then typed in the letter RANCH and got three greens - correct letters in correct locations - in A, C, and H. We also got a yellow letter R. Obviously R must be in the third position. We then guessed the word MARCH and the result is that this word is the correct word for today’s puzzle.

Wordle then give us our statistics since we use this new ACER computer. Previous results using the old computer were not stored in the system.

We have played 37 games, got 37 wins, 100%. But, our current winning streak is 34 meaning that I have 3 games that were wins but not on consecutive dates.

Saturday 1st April : Nerdle

Just like wordle, the first screen appearing after we have googled Nerdle is a screen with six rows of eight cells. We need to fill up the cells with digits and arithmetical equation signs of + - * / = . We are to guess at the equation stored in memory for the day. We win if we can guess the correct equation in six attempts or less. Again, Black color after entry of the equation represents error - the digit or the sign is not in the stored equation. Purple color represents right digit or sign but in the wrong position. Green color represents correct in both the digit or sign and the location.

The way to play this word cracker game is explained at the heading of the puzzle and this is therefore an easy word game. Below is the game with the first few words already done. The hints given are: 25 = P and 26 = L.

The first four words completed are: (1) APPEAL; (2) EAGER; (3) AGAPE; and (4) ERROR. Continue on.

Saturday 1st April 2023. Sudoku.

The Easy one has been done with the order in which the Sudoku was solved numbered. Perhaps a revision of the Francis’ Rules for Sudoku is needed and these rules are tabulated after the Easy Sudoku below.

Try to do the Hard Sudoku above. We shall return to this webpage in a week’s time for the solution to this Sudoku puzzle.
