Young Musicians’ Recital

On Sunday 30th October 2022 we, at Northbridge, had a concert of ten young musicians, all of whom have won competitions locally (in Auckland), and throughout New Zealand. One of the ten, Elaine Zhang, had even been invited to perform at the Aroha String Quartet International’s Music Academy.
It was a pity that no cameras were allowed at this wonderful display of talents but luckily for us some of the ten musicians had recordings in YouTube and we can share these videos later in this article.
The Order of the recital that day can be viewed hereunder:

(1) Zack Li is a 10 year-old pianist from ACG College Parnell, Year 6. He played Gustav Lange’s “Thine Own” for us.

(9) Celine Liu, played the harp for us and her piece of music was an Irish folk song “Danny Boy”. Celine is another eleven-year-old school girl from St. Cuthbert’s College in Auckland. The Master of Ceremony encouraged us to sing along with Celine’s repeated performance and we did. https://youtu.be/I2Cyxb63mK8

Oh, Danny boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling From glen to glen, and down the mountain side.
The summer’s gone, and all the roses falling, It’s you, it’s you must go and I must bide.
But come ye back when summer’s in the meadow, Or when the valley’s hushed and white with snow, It’s I’ll be here in sunshine or in shadow, Oh, Danny boy, oh Danny boy, I love you so!
But when ye come, and all the flowers are dying, If I am dead, as dead I well may be, You’ll come and find the place where I am lying, And kneel and say an Ave there for me.
And I shall hear, though soft you tread above me, And all my grave will warmer, sweeter be, For you will bend and tell me that you love me, And I shall sleep in peace until you come to me! https://youtu.be/xs6QsQ4EL2c
