Wordle for July 2022 年 7 月的 Wordle 文字游戏

To go into the Wordle game, we start by googling “WORDLE” and then select “Wordle, the New York Times” the website being nytimes.com We will get the following image on the screen.

There are six rows of five blank cells. Each blank cell has to be filled by an alphabet so that the five alphabets together forms a valid word. Once a word is formed and entered, the Wordle App will show us (1) in green colour the correct alphabet in the right position of the solution word; (2) in yellow colour if the alphabet is correct but in the wrong position; and (3) in black colour if the alphabet is not in the solution word.

Our first word in our guess above is the word ADIEU. This is one of the following nine words to start as our first guess. The reason is that these five-lettered words consist of four vowels and we need to eliminate as many vowels as possible (that are shown coloured black) in our subsequent guesses.

Here our first guess ADIEU gives us only one yellow in the vowel ” I “.

The other vowels A, E, and U are coloured black, meaning that the solution word has no such vowels. At the same time the consonant alphabet D is also not in the solution.

We then use the word MONIC as our second guess. The reason is that we want to see if the missing vowel ” O ” is in the solution and of course we need to use a word that consists of the I (coloured yellow in the first guess) in our second guess but not in the same position as before. The word MONIC is a mathematical term meaning “having the coefficient of the term of highest degree that is equal to one.” The result is wonderful with E coloured green and the O and I coloured yellow.

Our third guess, the word “OUINKS” produces two greens in ” I ” and ” N ” and one yellow in ” O “.

Our fourth guess, “PINTO” proofs to be the solution.

If we fail to produce a correct solution by the sixth attempt, we are deemed to have failed in the test and the answer is then shown to us.

The above shows our result to date. We have played for 128 days and we have scored a 98% success rate. We have twenty-three streaks (continuous wins) so far and thirty-eight streaks of continuous in our history.

Here we started with the word MIAOU, a five-lettered word with four vowels. The result is negative, so there must be at least an ” E ” in the solution. So we tried for two ” E’s ” in BEEFY and got two yellows for both the “E’s”. We used the uncoloured keys of the keyboards and tried ECHED (two green “E’s” this time); ELVEN (no improvement); ETWEN - one improvement in “T” being yellow. EGRET did it, finally, Whew! At the last attempt.

For our next puzzle, we start with another five-lettered with four vowels, the word AULOI. This word the plural of the word AULOS which is an ancient musical wind instrument means with a double pipe played with a double reed. [Please see the next photograph below].

Yes, we entered, as our second guess, the word VALID. This was rewarded with the same green coloured L and two new yellow (right alphabet on the wrong positions) in A and I. We can now narrow the choice of positioning these two letters to guess the next word INLAY. The result is that we now know where the alphabet I sits. With this knowledge we can easily guess the next word LILAC to give us the solution.

Just one more Wordle guess and we get the solution, which is LILAC.

The word OUIJA (that we use to start the next puzzle) means a board that has the alphabet and other signs on it and that some people believe can be used to communicate with the spirits of dead people. [Britannica Dictionary]. It is one of the nine words with five alphabets, four of which are vowels. Only the vowel “E” is missing and if we use the word ENTER next (in case none of the four alphabets are relevant) we can proceed to guess the solution a lot quicker as is the case today. After the word ENTER (with two greens in E and R and a yellow in the second E, we guess the third word SEWER. This brings us four greens and it is then easy to predict the solution, which is: SEVER.

So far so good. We have played 131 puzzles altogether. We have secured 98% wins. We failed in two puzzles out of the 131 played. We are currently having 26 streaks - that is twenty-six times over the last twenty-six times played where we win (that is scored within the six attempts limit). Previously, we had thirty-eight streaks.

We start with the word AUDIO and the result is that D and I are in the solution but not in those positions. Next, we test if the missing vowel E is in the solution by choosing the word IDENT. The result is that E is green (right alphabet, right position). I and D are still yellow - that is, they are still not in the right positions.

Our third attempt is the word FIELD which is the solution.

AULOI is a word I googled under “5-lettered words with 4 vowels”. AULOI is the plural of AULOS and an aulos is an ancient Greek musical wind instrument with two pipes played with a double reed. From here on, the guesses are UNCLE to see if the vowel E is present in the solution. The result is that there is no E in the answer. With only two alphabets U and L in yellow, we juggled with the alphabets to get BLURB (result L and U are green) and then the final correct answer of FLUFF.

Just come back to this webpage tomorrow to see another puzzle either solved within the six attempts or get defeated by the computer application for failing to do the puzzle within the six attempts, and break our streaks.

OURIE means “shabby”, “depressing”, or “dismay”.
