The current Coronavirus COVID19 pandemic makes us think. It comes to us so suddenly. it imprisons us, laterally. We are unable to travel. We have to stay safe and preferably with our family members all intact in the same neighbourhood. It makes us think of our family, our whenau (Maori’s word for family).

Then, changes are in the air. The American economy is suffering. The pandemic is one reason why this is so. Then there is the vindictive attitude of the President. We know from history that vindictiveness never wins battles. A reconciliatory way is always the best way to win hearts.

In Singapore, the ruling party, Peoples Action Party, in the latest general elections, is learning that the public is wanting change. The bullying techniques of the past must give way to transparency.

In New Zealand, both the Government and the Opposition Members of Parliament have made mistakes during the past few months. The Opposition now has had three recent changes in leadership. The Government has to learn how to handle tough decisions at New Zealand borders.

So, if we believe in God, in whatsoever shape or form, this is the time for us to rely on Him.

We need to pray for the safety of each other.

We can enjoy life and treasure the moments—the good and the bad—for our loving God is with us. “
