Rendezvous in the Yurt 敖包相会
This is the Mongolian equivalent of Shakespeare’s ‘Romeo and Juliet’. The two lovers were not allowed to meet by their family members because their family backgrounds were different. Like the Chinese tradition, Mongolian parents had wanted their children to be married to those with the same level of social status. This song tells of a couple who longed to see each other at a designated ‘yurt’.
A yurt is a dwelling made of a lattice of poles and covered in felt, looking like a circular tent. Yurts have been the primary style of home in Mongolia for many years.
这是莎士比亚的“罗密欧与朱丽叶”的蒙古语版本。由于家庭背景不同，这两个恋人不被家人允许见面。与中国传统一样，蒙古父母希望自己的孩子嫁给同等社会地位的人。这首歌讲述了一对渴望在指定的“蒙古包”见面的情侣。 蒙古包是由杆子格子组成的住宅，上面覆盖着毛毡，看起来像一个圆形帐篷。多年来，蒙古包一直是蒙古人的主要家居风格。
