There was this handsome young man, Shimon Yehuda Hayut, born 27th September 1990 in Israel. He changed his name to Simon Leviev and proclaimed himself as the son of Lev Avnerovich Leviev, an Israeli businessman known as the Diamond King.

Then there were these three lovely ladies, named Cecilie Fjellhoy, Pernilla Sjoholm, and Ayleen Charlotte, all of whom have met Simon individually through the dating application on the internet TINDER.

Cecilie Fjellhoy joined Tinder in the hope of finding a lifelong partner to share her life with. She did find one, a Simon Leviev who travelled in his private jet-plane to meet up with her for romantic dinners at exotic restaurants. When she received videos of Simon’s bodyguard bleeding from his head over WhatsApp, her heart stopped. Her boyfriend Simon Leviev—heir to a diamond dynasty, son of the Israeli-Russian “King of diamonds” Lev Leviev—was in danger. After a whirlwind romance of over a month with heaps of text messages while he was traveling for work he suddenly needed her help.

She started financing him using her credit cards to their limit. She was left her with over $200,000 of debt and was nearly destroyed. Along the way, she finds community in Pernilla Sjoholm and Ayleen Charlotte, two other alleged victims of Simon Leviev’s swindling. Together, they resolve to expose Simon to the world.

Pernilla Sjoholm had this to say to all ladies who uses Tinder: “It could have happened to anyone who has empathy.” She was a victim of Simon Leviev whom she expressed the view that “Simon is one of those people who does not feel empathy. He targets all of you who are naturally empathisers, who share the feelings of others.”

Sjoholm was a sales lady in Sweden and met Simon in the year 2018.   They developed a platonic relationship for quite some time before Simon told her of being in danger from business enemies and needed cash desperately.  

Months later, Sjoholm found out that Leviev had conned her and other women out of thousands of dollars.

Another victim of Simon, Ayleen Charlotte, was pleased with herself when,  eventually, she was able to swindle back the Tinder Swindler himself. 

In a scene in the second half of the film “The Tinder Swindler”, Charlotte explained that as soon as she realised she was being scammed by Simon, she decided to play along, while also selling off Leviev’s designer clothes piece by piece.  Needless to say, the ladies who were swindled was praising Charlotte for exacting the revenge all of them were all craving.

Charlotte first learned that her boyfriend was a scammer from a newspaer article included testimonies from fellow victims Cecilie Fjellhoy and Pernilla Sjoholm.  After chatting with Sjoholm, she realised she had been scammed by the same words and deeds of the same person, Simon.  She needed a plan to get her swindled money back.  

Pretending to remain a loyal girlfriend, Charlotte decided to meet up with Leviev one last time, but not for romance.  She took three suitcases of Leviev’s designer clothes under the guise of selling them on his behalf.  Instead, Charlotte kept the profits for herself.  

Charlotte then orchestrated the ultimate payback: Simon’s arrest. After leaving Leviev, she figured out the flight he was boarding under a fake passport. Interpol was waiting to arrest him when he landed. “He never believed that I was capable of doing this,” she said.

Simon Leviev, the subject of Netflix’s “The Tinder Swindler,” allegedly changed his last name in an attempt to impersonate a member of the influential family of diamond tycoon Lev Leviev. This week, the real Leviev family sued Simon, alleging he defrauded them and hurt their family business. In an exclusive interview with Access Hollywood, Lev’s daughter Chagit Leviev speaks out.
