The construction of the temple was sponsored by a wealthy Burmese Buddhist, Sir Po Tha, in 1899.  The image was completed in 1907 by another construction company, but was not proportionally correctly, and the Buddha’s face had an aggressive expression. In the 1950s, the old Buddha image was demolished and temple trustees began work to replace the image, under the supervision of U Thaung, a master craftsman. Large glass eyes with dimensions of 1.77 by .58 metres (5 ft 10 in × 1 ft 11 in) were custom-created at Naga Glass Factory. The Buddha image was consecrated in 1973.

The Shwedagon Pagoda is the most impressive and sacred Buddhist site in Myanmar. The pagoda is claimed to be 2,600 years old, but according to the historians and archaeologists it was built between 6th and 10th centuries. It has been damaged by earthquakes on several occasions and later rebuilt and raised higher, to its current height of 99 meters/325 ft. The early morning/Sunrise and late afternoon/Sunset views of the pagoda and the surrounding temples, stupas and shrines are marvels to watch.

The Shwedagon Pagoda is also known as the Golden Dagon Pagoda is the most sacred Buddhist pagoda in Myanmar as it is believed to contain relics of the four previous Buddhas.  These relics include the staff of Kakusandha, the water filter of Konagamana,  a piece of the robe of Kassapa, and eight strands of hair from the head of Gautama.

On our way to the Inle Lake Villa Resort we visited the Shwe Yan Pyaye monastery & Pagoda, and the Red Mountain vineyard where we had our lunch.

On Monday 30 July we were picked up from our villa and we started our boat excursion trip around the Inle Lake. We visited several floating villages and floating gardens. We saw now the weaver’s community worked at the floating workshops to produce fabrics and textiles from Lotus stems, combining with silk materials. We were driven from the Airport to The Hotel # Tharabar Gate, 05232,Old Bagan, Nyaung-U, Bagan, Myanmar 05232 for a three-night stay. The Hotel # Tharabar Gate, 05232,Old Bagan, Nyaung-U, Bagan, Myanmar 05232,住了三晚。

On Tuesday 31 July we started our tour of the Bagan Archaeological Zone. The Bagan Archaeological Zone, defined as the 13 by 8 kilometres (8.1 mile × 5.0 mile) area centred around Old Bagan, consisting of Nyaung U in the north and New Bagan in the south, lies in the vast expanse of plains in Upper Burma on the bend of the Irrawaddy river. After lunch we were back to the hotel to stay away from heat stress of Bagan. We revisited the zone again to Visit watch sunset in the late afternoon. https://youtu.be/443M-JZbUuI

At Bagan, we were struck by the beauty and the sheer size and number of the historic monuments.

Bagan is the apex of a civilisation in Myanmar, much like the Angkor Wat in Cambodia.  These people created an amazing 2.224 Buddhist monuments, dating from Bagan’s “Golden Period” around 1044 to 1287 AD.
