The overall analysis of this game:

BEG (Best, Excellent, and Good Moves): White’s total: 12; Black’s total: 17.

MIB (Mistakes, Inaccuracies, and Blunders): White’s total: 7; Black’s total: 3.

Checkmate by Black on the 20th move with 2 minutes 38 seconds remaining.

The first moves in the match are from the ordinary ‘Book moves’ version. Moves # 1. c3 d5

Moves # 2 sees a surprise move by White. Moves # 2. Qa4+ Nc6

Here White’s move of Qa4+ is not usual. Nc6 is the good reply, but Qd7 is best because Qd7 will force the Black Queen to move out of the threatening poise.

Moves # 3. e3 Bd7. White’s better move instead of e3 should be b4.

Moves # 4. b4 Ne5 White’s b4 is excellent but d3 is best. And for Black, Ne5 is good but e5 is best.

Moves # 5. b5 a6 White: b5 is excellent but Qb3 is best. Black: a6 is excellent but Bf5 is best.

Moves # 6. d4 Bxb5 White: d4 is a mistake; Qd4 is best. Black: Bxb5 is a mistake; axb5 is best, as Q will then be threatened by Black’s Rook.

Moves # 7. Qb4 Nc6 Qb4 is a mistake; Bxb5+ is best. Black’s reply of Nc6 is an inaccuracy; Nc4 is best.

Moves # 8. Qb2 e5 White: Qb2 is a mistake; Bxb5 is best. Black: e5 is a mistake; Bxf1 is nest as this will restrict the Black K from castling - the exchange of B is worth it.

Moves # 9. a4 Bxf1 White: a4 is a mistake. Bxb5 is best.

Moves # 10. Qxb7 Na5 White: Qxb7 is a blunder. Best move is Kxf1.

Moves # 11. Qb2 Bxg2 Black: Bxg2 is best as White’s Rook has nowhere to go.

Moves # 12. f3 Bxh1

Moves # 13. Nd2 Nf6 White: Nd2 is excellent but Kd1 is best because Black’s Q is about to go to Qh4+ to gain an advantage. Black: Nf6 is excellent but Qh4+ is best as the K is threatened.

Moves # 14. e4 Nh5 White: e4 is excellent but Nf1 is best. Black: Nh5 is excellent but exd4 is best.

Moves # 15. exd5 Qxd5 White: exd5 is excellent but Kd1 is best, to avoid Qh4+ and a pawn to be taken. Black: Qxd5 is excellent but Qh4+ is best as the pawn at h2 can be taken.

Moves # 16. Ne4 Be7. White: Ne4 is excellent but Qc2 is best. Black: Be7 is excellent but Nb3 is best as it will force White’s R to move.

Moves # 17. Kf2 Bh4+ At this point, Black can visualise a win. White’s Kf2 is excellent but Be3 is best. Black is putting the pressure on by playing Bh4+ but at this stage, exd4 is best.

Moves # 18. Ke3 exd4+ White’s Ke3 is an inaccuracy. Ng3 is best. Black: exd4+ is excellent. Nc4+ is best as White’s Q can then be captured.

Moves # 19. cxd4 Bg5+ White: cxd4 is excellent. Ke2 is best. Black: Bg5+ is good but Nc4+ is best, as again, White’s Q can be captured. This “blindness” often occurs in blitz chess as players are racing against time too.

Moves # 20. Kd3 Qc4# White’s Kd3 is a total disaster. Kf2 is best as this can keep the K alive. Black’s Qc4# is set and match.
