Just a Sample pdf book.

We have a good number of online students learning the English Language. They attend regular adult classes, some in community centers, and some at Language Schools subsidized by the New Zealand Government. They are good at grammar structures but they lack an adequate vocabulary, especially words that they can use in their everyday lives.

Here we illustrate how we can, quite easily produce a book for these students. To keep this book simple, we choose a theme from everyday life - breakfast. We call this book “What do you have for breakfast today?” The sample book is designed with the purpose of encouraging conversations between tutors and learners and amongst learners with each other.

We use photographs taken from our mobile phones and if these are not readily available, we select photographs from the internet and modified these to heighten the points which we want emphasizing.

The cover has a photograph of a plate of British-styled breakfast as a background and words in three languages - English, Chinese, and Maori. The objective here is to make this simple book also available for those who want to study Chinese and the Maori languages.

“I start my breakfast with a cup of white coffee at six-thirty in the morning.” These were the wordings for the next page.

“Then, I take two pieces of round crumpets out from the container bag and place a slice of ‘Chesdale’ cheese in between the crumpets. “

I place the plate of crumpets into the microwave oven for one minute.   The cheese softens and melts a little. I eat crumpets. They are very tasty.

I drink a cup of warm water from the flask. The flask has a pump. I press the release knob at the top of the flask and the warm water flows out from the outlet at the side of the flask.

Some times, I drink a cup of hot cholocate instead of warm water.

Other breakfast items that I also have sometimes include:

Bacon, Egg, and Toast.

At this point, we are going to end this book. Of course, we can still add heaps of pages and photographs into the book before the ending page, like (1) Types of eggs - scrambled eggs; fried eggs; omelets; hard-boiled eggs; (2) Noodles; (3) Cereals; (4) Porridge; (5) Sausages; (6) Pancakes; and so on.

The last page encourages discussions between tutors and learners.

Ka tiimata au i taku parakuihi me te kapu o te kawhe ma i te toru tekau ma toru o te ata.

Ka inumia e ahau he kapu o te wai mahana mai i te ipu wai. He papu ano kei te ipu. Ka tono ahau i te pehanga ki te pito o runga o te ipu me te wai mahana ka puta mai i te putanga ki te taha o te ipu.

Poaka paowa, hua,
me te faraoa paraoa.

Ka taea e tatou te whakamutu i tenei pukapuka inaianei. engari, mena he pai taatau, ka taea e taatau ki te taapiri i nga whaarangi me nga tohu penei (1) te maha o nga hua tunu, parai ranei; (2) Kua oti te paraoa nga Haina i te paraoa; (3) Kareti totara me te miraka; (4) raihi kohua; (5) Poaka poaka; (6) Panekeke; me era atu..

Ko te wharangi whakamutunga e akiaki ana i nga korerorero i waenga i nga kaiwhakaako me nga akonga.
