I know not where the following quotation comes from.

All I know is the fact that it is posted to me by a friend from Singapore. Thank You, Lim, and God Bless You.

I have made some amendments to the message I received just to make the contents clearer.

Here comes the message and I appreciate it if you can read SLOWLY and let the meaning sink into the deeper section of the brain.

“We are in World War III now. We have not asked you to stay indoors but I know that your own inner voices ask you to - to stay indoors to be safe.

“In fact, we know that, if you do have a basement at your home, you will be staying there as long as you know that the invisible enemy still exists.

“In war, you do not insist on having freedom. You will willingly give freedom up in exchange for survival. During a war, you do not complain of hunger. You bear hunger and you pray that you can live long enough to eat again.

“In wartime, you do not argue about opening your business. You close your shops and run for your lives.

“You pray to outlive the war so that you can return to your businesses (that is if the business premises have not been destroyed by spiders or rats or looters).

“In a war, you are thankful to God for seeing another day in the land of the living.

“In a war, you do not worry about your children not going to school. You teach them the knowledge of true survival.

“The world is currently in a state of war. This is a war without guns, without bullets - a war without human soldiers, a war without borders, a war without cease-fire agreements, a war without sacred zones.

“The enemy in this world is without mercy. It has no milk, no honey, and no sympathy. It has no human kindness, no dis discrimination, no respect for children, or for women, or for seniors, or for politicians, or for places of worship.

“This is an enemy with no interest in the spoils of the war. This is an enemy with no intention of regime change. This is an enemy who is not concerned about the rich mineral resources underneath the earth. This enemy is not even interested in religion, ethics, or in ideological hegemony.

“Its ambition has nothing to do with racial superiority. Our enemy is invisible, is flatfooted, and is ruthlessly effective.

“The enemy has just one agenda - the harvest of death.

“The enemy is only satiated after turning the world into one big death field.

“The enemy has no physical grounds, no amphibious or aerial machines.

“The enemy has bases in every country on this earth.

“The enemy’s movements are not governed by any war convention, nor any protocol.

“In short, this enemy has a law unto itself.

“Thankfully, at last, this enemy has a weakness and it can be defeated. To defeat this enemy, we require our collective action and discipline.

“The enemy cannot survive if we have our social and physical distancing. The enemy bows before our good personal hygiene like a simple act of handwashing and sanitizing as often as possible.

“This is not a time to cry about bread and butter like spoilt children. After all the Bible has told us that man cannot live by bread alone.

“Let us obey and follow the instructions of the authorities. Let us flatten the COVID-19 curve. Let us exercise our patience. Let us be our brothers’ keepers.

“In no time, we shall regain our freedom, our enterprise, and socializing again - for another hundred and two years.”

At this point, let us remember the poem “Charge of the Light Brigade” by Lord Alfred Tennyson, modified to suit, as follows:

Virus to the right of us, Virus to the left of us,

Virus in front of us, Virus behind us,

 No volley, no thunder; No shot, no shell;

Boldly we rode and well,

 Rode NZ’s five million.

The enemy doesn’t need to have its saber bare,
