Prayer for the Sick and the Saddened
“Heavenly Father,
“We give thank to You for all Your blessings You have showered upon us.
“We give thanks to You for having Your Holy Spirit to guide us in saddened times when we are sick, worried and simply depressed.
“We give thanks to You for having family and friends around us praying for us as we struggle with our daily assortments of sicknesses and sadness.
“This morning in particular, we place before You the condition of our neighbour Hugh Brown who is suffering from a spinal nerve disorder and the sadness of his dear wife Zanna.
“We pray for a speedy cure and recovery for Hugh as and when he is due for his operation. We pray that he and his wife can be assured of Your healing hands as You touch upon him.
“We know that we are born here on earth with a purpose, Your purpose. We know that we cried upon arrival as we moved away from the warmth of our mums’ wombs. We know that in life we have to navigate through seas of troubling circumstances before we are called to join You in Heaven. But for now, for this moment, Lord, we pray for Hugh in Your mighty name,
Amen.”

Perhaps you are not as sick as Hugh but you are depressed because you are unwell, or because circumstances at this moment are stressful. We shall include you in our prayer. Simply replace the name Hugh with your name and replace Zanna’s with your dearest ones and proceed to pray, openly and clearly in order for Him to hear. He delights in having His name mentioned and remembered.
Perhaps you are not a Christian - you are a Buddhist, or a Muslim or even an Atheist - no matter. You can still say this prayer without any reference to the Lord and without the Amen at the end. It should have the same effect in our belief system.
Background:
Spinal Nerve Disorders are mainly due to the condition when the nerves in the spine are compressed and the nerves that exit the spinal canal become trapped, compressed and swollen. This can be extremely painful. The effect can destroy our nerves.
A slipped, ruptured or bulging disc can also cause nerve compression. Pain can be accompanied by sensations of tingling, numbness and weakness.
Of course spinal nerve disorders can be caused by old age, or a lack of exercise.
