Lady of Law (2022) - A Chinese drama story

The Story’s Summary:

Chen Wen Guang has been a successful lawyer with an active legal practice with two other partners in the name of Mingtang Law Firm. At the start of this story, Chen Wen Guang was arrested by the Police, charged with corruption and the misuse of trustees’ funds.

At a time when Xu Jie was very frustrated with her personal relationship problem, she was invited by Li Gongming, a partner at Mingtang, to join their firm to take on the investigations on the case involving Chen Wen Guang. Chen’s daughter, Chen Ran, had also been secretly investigating the case herself. The two female lawyers with clashing on almost every case that they were collectively involved, finally came to a mutual respect for each other’s point of view and eventually come to a mutual understanding as they work together to reveal the truth regarding Chen Wen Guang’s innocence.

故事梗概：
陈文广是一位成功的律师，与另外两位合伙人以明堂律师事务所名义积极从事法律业务。故事一开始，陈文广被警方逮捕，罪名是贪污和滥用受托人资金。
就在徐洁对自己的人际关系问题感到非常沮丧的时候，明堂合伙人李公明邀请她加入他们的事务所，负责调查陈文光案。陈的女儿陈然也一直在暗中调查此案。两位女律师几乎在集体涉案的每一个案件上都发生了冲突，最终彼此尊重对方的观点，最终达成共识，共同揭开陈文光清白的真相。

The two lawyers, Xu Jie and Chen Ran, gradually go from acquaintances to good friends and, with each case that they tackle successfully, they deepened their trust and confidence in each other. They even helped each other to tackle each other’s relationship problems (Xu Jie with her much younger boyfriend, and Chen Ran with her husband). The subsequent political incidents at the law firm firmly ties them together as they find mutual solutions to every crossroad in their legal careers.

Xu Jie, (actress Jiang Shuying), is a female lawyer who had an emotional and career setback in her workplace, resigned from her legal firm and was later invited by Li Gongming, a partner of another legal practice, Mingtang Law, to come to work there. She was assigned to work in the same team as Chen Ran but the two did not get along Wellington the beginning, holding different viewpoints on many issues. They both agreed the law should always defend justice, but their opinions differed on the manners in which the law had to be enforced. However, after solving many cases together, the two gradually became good friends as they debated their opinions with each other, and discovering each other’s strengths and weaknesses. With the successful resolutions of the many commissioned cases, the two became confidants and trusted workmates. The two teamed up to find out the truth about Chen Wen Guang’s corruption case.

许婕   演员 江疏影         飒爽的职场女律师，因为在原本的城市情感及事业受挫，便受明堂事务所合伙人李功明之邀来到明堂，成为事务所的实习律师。她和陈染虽然秉持不同理念，但两人都坚持用法律来捍卫正义。两人逐渐从相识到相知，随着一桩桩委托案的圆满解决，两人互为知己彼此信任。在互相救赎后，两人联手探寻事实，最终获知受贿案的真相。

Chen Ran, (actress Liu Mintao), is a senior female lawyer in Mingtang Law practice. Outwardly, She looked confident but she did have family problems to resolve. Her husband was having an affair with his colleague and she had to look after a teenage daughter. Her father, Chen Wen Guang, was imprisoned, and she had been forging ahead to find out the truth of this case. At the same time, the originally happy marriage was in crisis. In the face of this marital problem, she stood determined and firm in her decision to divorce her husband and fought for the custody of her daughter. She could not help showing her emotional and vulnerable side. But thanks to the encouragement and help from her best mate, Xu Jie, she remained resolute and sane.

陈染   演员 刘敏涛         高阶女律师，外形干练。她在外人看来是个成功人士，作为一名专业过硬的女律师，她在职场混的风生水起，俨然一副成功人士的样子。但在私下里，成功如她却也要面对诸多情感难题。父亲锒铛入狱后她始终在砥砺前行默探真相，与此同时，原本美满的家庭也悄然出现危机，面对婚姻问题，一向坚毅的她也不禁展现出感性脆弱一面。

Song Xiu (Actor Peng Yuchang) is a trainee lawyer, with a direct, frank and to-the-point approach to issues. He is very humble young man and adopts a low-key approach in life. He treats his colleagues with sincerity and enthusiasm, and is conscientious in his work. He is a serious and responsible newcomer to Mingtang Law practice. For Xu Jie, the queen of the workplace, Song Xiu is simply very likeable in her world. His simple mindedness and straightforward approach to issues impress her especially after she had been manipulated by her former lover Sun Zhewei, wh is always scheming for his own benefits and is tricky with his dealings.

宋修  演员 彭昱畅         明堂的公司的实习律师，平常非常谦虚低调，他对待同事们真诚热忱，工作起来也兢兢业业，是一个认真负责任的新人。尤其是对职场女王许婕而言，宋修简直是人间值得一般的存在，他心思单纯率真，没有老油条孙哲玮那样的心机和花招。

Jian Peiran, (actor Gao Xin), Chen Ran’s husband, was a house husband of Chen Ran, taking care of the daily chores of housework and the guidance of their young kindergarten daughter. He later chose to take up a part time directorship in a company and at that point, he ppily, but as Chen Ran’s father committed crimes, their lives were also affected. Sun Zhewei, (actor Dai Xiangyu) was Xu Jie’s first boyfriend. They are not childhood sweethearts, but he knows everything about her, especially her inner emotions. After graduating from the same university together, both from Law School, they entered working lives together, working in the same legal company. Both worked hard but Sun Zhewei was scheming for promotion and in the process of such completion, he proved to be more cunning in his actions and even back-stepped Xi Jie for his own gains. Xu Jie had to leave the firm to work for the firm’s rival practice where she finds to be more friendly and more importantly, more ethical in office practice.

Li Gongming (actor Gao Shuguang) is the director of Mingtang, the legal practice that competes with practice that Sun Zhewei works for. Liu Fang (Actress Zhao Yihuan) is one of Mingtang’s lawyers and is Chen Ran’s assistant. She is optimistic and cheerful, with very strong work ability. She is Chen Ran’s competent personal assistant. She accompanies her on all cases, large and small. She is very loyal to Chen Ran. Even though many people choose to leave because of Chen Wenguang’s affairs, she still does not abandon Chen Ran and she safeguards Chen Ran’s interests.

Bai Ning, (actress Xu Li), is a lawyer at Mingtang Law Firm. She is shrewd and capable, and is a workaholic. As a strong woman in the men’s world of the legal profession, Bai Ning works hard to prove her worth to the firm, dealing with her cases day and night, working overtime almost every day. She has absolutely no life of her own, not even time to celebrate her own birthday. She did not remember her birthday until she saw the bank’s text message reminding her of her appointing with Xiao He. Xiao He confessed his love for Bai Ning at her birthday dinner, and Bai Ning was moved to accept his love. The two had a fate with each other because of their many encounters together in Mingtang. They were a happier couple in the law firm after they found each other.

Xiao He (actor Zhou Chengao) is another lawyer with a straight and honest personality. Before entering Mingtang, he had secretly investigated cases for Chen Ran, and had accumulated a lot of experience in the process.
