The Year 2018 Part V of VI - Years 1990’s
I took a breather in the years 1996, 1997 and 1998 to complete my studies for the MBA (Technology Management) degree. It was an interesting experience for me, as I studied together with my No. 3 daughter, exchanging study notes and submitting assignments together. She finished just a term earlier but during this period, we did spend quality time together, usually in our weekly banter over the topics we studied.
The earlier portion of the decade was spent in Singapore, lecturing in the National University there, teaching property valuation and at the same time writing research papers on topics like real estate, land development, construction management and computer programs for the construction industry.
In the later half of the decade, I was in Thailand, practising property valuation while establishing the Bachelor’s program in this specialization at the Assumption University’s Business School. As related above, I broke up my time to study at Deakin University for the MBA qualification.
Apart from teaching and the practice of my profession, the most interesting contribution worth mentioning during this period is that I assisted new migrants to New Zealand from South East Asian countries in settling into a new Occidental Environment while still encouraging them to retain their Oriental outlook at home and family. I have made my resolution to continue to do so in the coming year ahead.
Just a page from the book written during this period.
