Build your Lego Dreams

Labour Weekend, Monday 23rd October 2017.

What a day for me! Just wished that young James (11) was with me. He would have thoroughly enjoyed this event. Reuben (12) and Ahryn (14) would probably have enjoyed this event too but they are not as keen on Lego as James. Rebecca (12) would prefer her books. Daniel (23) and Olivia (21), as young adults, would have preferred to spend their time on the social circuit. Blake is simply just too young - only a month old.

Instead of my grandchildren, I went with my wife and therefore I had my Lego experience shortened as she urged me to go to Lynn Mall instead, saying in passing “What a waste of $25.00 - $10.00 each for entry and $5.00 for car parking across the road from the Trust Arena, Henderson.

It was a pity that I was not able to spend more time there mingling with the many kids (between the ages of one and thirteen) and their parents and watching the many displays of lego constructed moving trains, cars, trucks, airplanes over a large 3,000 m2 area. After only about an hour’s stay, Lin had the final say and we moved to Lynn Mall some five kilometers away.

I had not visited those highlights that I subsequently discovered on the relevant web page:

Wild, wild West; Huge working Truck displays; Batman’s Arkham Asylum; and Out of this World Space landscapes.

What a pity!

Alas, 23rd October is the last day of the exhibition and I know that the next Lego exhibition show on such a grand scale, may well be years away. The last time I visited a Lego show was some months back in Singapore’s Katong Shopping Centre in Marine Parade where the exhibits were displayed in just a five-meter lane at the central aisle - a minute display when compared with this.
