Lessons from Jack Ma 马云的教训
Listen to Jack Ma here on this youTube video:
Several meaningful lessons that we can learn from him can be summarized as follows:
Lesson # 1 - Answer a question with a diversion.
Listen to this: Question - Explain to us how you think about the US-China relationship given some of the comments that Donald Trump has made about China being a manipulator, a currency manipulator?
Answer: I think first, America is country with a “freedom of speech” right. So he can whatever he wants and I respect that. But of course, I have my own views. We did not debate about the China being a trade or currency manipulator. I actually agreed with him on developing small businesses in Middle West America, helping farmers and small businesses there to export to China.
Lesson # 2 - Answer a question with another question.
Immediately after answering a question at 3:42, he quickly asked “Can I share with you my ideas?” and he quickened to clarify his thoughts without waiting for the next question from the questioner.
Lesson # 3 - Have positive words concerning President Trump, emphasizing the need for small businesses from mid-western American states to export their products to China.
Lesson # 4 - Have a new idea to attract the questioner and the listeners. His new idea is that of globalization for the benefit of the masses, not for the benefits of a small group of companies. His example is the work of Ali Baba website - a website that has benefited many small businesses in China.
